Everyone I loved is still here somehow
Everyone I loved is still here somehow is a series about intimacy as a threshold: the moments when contact with another person changes the shape of who we are.
Across ten paintings, dark figures embrace, gather and dissolve into shared masses. Faces emerge from bodies like memories refusing to disappear, while luminous portals hover around them as wounds, halos and openings into another state. These are not entrances into distant worlds, but records of encounters already lived: a mother’s embrace, gossip between friends, the tenderness of a lover and the ghostly caress of remembering an ex.
The series began with the feeling that everyone I have loved remains somewhere within me. We continuously pass through relationships, but we never leave them unchanged. Something is exchanged. Something is carried forward. Each painting holds the emotional residue of that transformation.
The accompanying zine extends this mythology through fragments of writing, collage and repetition. It moves between grief and humour, personal memory and the imagined science of feeling. Borrowing from the alchemical law of equivalent exchange, it proposes that nothing truly disappears; it only changes form.
Everyone I loved is still here somehow is ultimately not about returning to the past. It is about allowing the past to speak without asking it to become the present again - learning instead to hold what remains differently.
